Mr. Mahmoud Alavi told reporters on Saturday that intelligence forces had aborted several planned attacks and sabotage attempts in Tehran suburbs and western and eastern provinces of the country. Mr. Alavi added that the terrorist groups had sought to hit the rallies marking the anniversary of Islamic Revolution of 1979. He said the operations discovered and destroyed the terrorist groups within a week.
“An intermediate who was coordinating sabotage plans had been in close contact with group destroyed in Tehran suburbs. He himself was killed in Iraq; Iranian and members of other nationalities were arrested during the raid on their hideout,” he detailed. “8 members were arrested in Tehran high-out only.”
“The preliminary stories reveal that groups had been organizing attempts to procure Kalashnikov rifles and other sabotage facilities under the direct guidelines provided by some foreign circles; they received training leaflets from the same foreign source,” Alavi told the press.
